Detail Balancing Instrumentation

Balancing Instrumentation ( A) MP-102 The MP-102 electronics is a microprocessor-based system for precision balancing. It has a CRT display, which is used as read out for unbalance readings as well as for viewing various other rotor data / parameters. The software employed here is menu driven for user convenience. Rotor description, dimensions, geometry, balancing tolerances, method of correction ( add/ remove, polar/ component) and balancing speed are fed into the electronic memory of the unit via the keyboard. Each set of rotor data pertaining to one rotor is allotted a code number by which the rotor data is recalled from the memory at the time of balancing run. Adequate memory is provided for storing data on the hard disc. The microprocessor unit carries out the entire set of computations digitally and displays the result on the CRT screen. The correction results are displayed in bold letters using specially designed graphics to suit the shop floor conditions. The results can be in polar or component form. The number of components and the angle of the first component can be different in the planes and can be varied depending upon the job. The unit also determines whether the residual unbalance is within the balancing speed is checked and appropriate messages are displayed on the CRT display to avoid balancing at wrong speeds. The MP-102 unit is extremely useful where a large verify of rotors are encountered in the production process and changeover from one type of rotor to another is done frequently. It also allows the use of the printout system for recording the balancing results. MP-102 FEATURES 1. Special diagnostics program screen for pinpoint the fault if ever the machine malfunction. 2. Special calibration programs to check machine calibration programs to check machine calibration and if required reset it. 3. Possibly of attaching a printer ( even on a later date) 4. Setting procedure in diagnostic mode with guiding steps displayed on the CRT. 5. Correction values displayed in the polar from ( amount and angle) or the component form ( weight addition at fixed points upto 99 components is possible) . 6. Automatic comparison of rotor unbalance with its tolerance. When the rotor comes within tolerance, In TOL indication is displayed. 7. Comparison of actual machine balancing speed with the desired balancing speed fed-in. This ensures that balancing is done at the right speed. 8. Possibly of recalling rotor data fed-in previously by giving the rotor code number. 9. Display of complete file of rotor codes and description whose data is stored in the memory. 10. Electronics measures the value over time and displays values when reading has stabilized. 11. Display of unbalance in vector format ( vector meter) . 12. Upto 99 different types of rotor codes. 13. All readings can be saved in the hard disc or on floppy for later use. MP - 102 OPTIONAL FEATURES 1. Flexible rotor balancing at several speeds making correction upto 8 planes ( more than 8 planes are normally not required though software can easily be provided for more planes) . 2. Perform various functions to facilitate automation in high production balancing machines ( automatic positioning of jobs, interaction with job transfer systems etc. by providing necessary additional equipment) . 3. Perform various statistical functions as taking mean values of initial unbalance, average number balancing runs etc. 4. Adaptation for soft bearing machines and setting procedure. 5. Weight removal by automatic milling or drilling. B) DT-100 This is a precision electronic system for hard bearing dynamic balancing machines. It has a convenient digital display for indication of unbalance in 2 planes. The digital display coupled with precision electronics gives this system a high degree of accuracy and reliability. Some of the sailent features of the electronics are listed below. Component Indication It has a component indication system ( Cartesian coordinate system) with vector resolution in 900 components, which makes it possible to make corrections at fixed points. This has a special advantage in belt driven machines where on does not have to manually transfer the angle on to the job being balanced. The electronics is also suitable for rotors where the complete 3600 periphery is available for making correction. 600 component indication can be provided for special rotors such as root blowers etc. High resolution It has resolution of upto 0.05% of fullscale reading which goes for accurate unbalance indication. The effective resolution for angle indication works out tobe better then 0.2 degree. Digital tachometer It is provided with a digital electronic speed indicator ( Tachometer is supplied with multispeed machine only) Automatic Speed Tracking Filters ( Synchronous Filters) The electronics is provided with synchronous filters with photoelectric scanning which eliminates all spurious vibrations and signals. There is no need to manually tune these filters as this is done automatically by the electronics. This system is much superior to the stroboscopic system which requires manual tuning to balancing speed. This would be apparent from the following paragraph from the International Specifications ISO 2953." " Where indicator systems that rely heavily on operator judgment are used, for example stroboscopics, mechanical indicators etc. realistic values based on experience and related to be balanced, shall be given' . No Unbalance Supression Balancing machine electronics can give ' supression of unbalance' due to internal electrical offsets and some other reasons. This means that the machines can show zero or a small reading while the rotor assembly has a large unbalance present in it. This phenomenon results in inferior balancing. In the DT-100 electronic unit has an auto zero system correct zero offsets and internal errors. Secondly, the filter automatically tracks the balancing speed and, therefore, there is no error possible due to incorrect manual tuning. Thirdly, the zero setting switch helps in checking the exact zero points. Fourthly, it is also easy to compensate for drive errors and other errors without the need for vector calculations as the readings are in component ( caretesian) from. Digital Unchanging Memory The electronic unit has a digital memory which will not change with time. The stored readings will remain exactly the same after 10 or 20 hours or even after several days. Permanent Calibration The electronics system is suitable for permanently calibrated ' hard bearing' machines. No trial of calibration runs are required. The rotor data is simply fed-in and the very first balancing run gives unbalance values. The rotor data is fed-in by the use of a programmer switch and potentiometers. This method is a well tried out method and is found convenient by unskilled operators. Solid State Pickups The electronics system works with Solid State Force Pickups. Unlike electromagnetic pickups ( moving coil & magnet pickups ) which have moving parts. These are sealed pickups and no dust particles or chips can get into them giving them greater reliability. Polar Indication Amount and angle indication in provided for addition / removal of weight. Optional Features EREC : Electronic remount error compensation for unbalance compensation for unbalance compensation of the adaptors. Displacement and velocity indication: Both displacement and velocity indication are available and are suitable to high speed balancing. Input is taken from either force measuring pickups, accelometers or non contact probes. 3 Plane indication 3 Plane indication is provided for 3 plane job balancing.
