AUTOMATIC ARMATURE BALANCING MACHINE 1. SALIENT FEATURES 1.1. Completely automatic operation. Operator simply has to place the jobs at the input station and remove them from the output station. The OK jobs and the OUT OF TOLERANCE jobs are separately stacked. 1.2. 4 cutters are provided at the correction station to simultaneously mill on LHS and RHS. This ensures fast correction. 1.3 Correction in 90o components is ideal for jobs having high initial unbalance as compared to polar corrections. Higher depth of milling means more unbalance can be corrected. Secondly, the 90o correction method means that second run balancing is possible. 1.4. Milling system does out to in milling ensuring that the stack is not damaged during milling due to flaring. It also means milling can be done at the ends which reduces the total unbalance correction required. 1.5. An automatic linear transfer system ensures minimum space for operator movement. A rotary transfer system is provided when space limitations are not there. 1.6. Zero clearance ' slides' and electronic depth measuring with resolution of 0.05mm helps achieve good correction ratio. 2. Brief Description Of Machine. Measuring Station. This is the heart of the machine where unbalance of the armature is measured. This consists of a main body which houses the pedestal assembly, an electric motor fitted with brake gives drive to the motor. The body also houses force transducers and photo electric module for measurement of unbalance. The machine has an automatic measuring circle. The job has only to be placed on the machine and the start button has to be pressed. Machine starts, measures reading and steps automatically. The readings transfer to the correction station when this job is undergoing correction. Correction Station. Armatures are corrected for their unbalance on this station automatically. This station is housed with four milling cutters and quick clamping arrangement. The readings from measuring station get transferred to this station and the correction is done automatically by the milling cutters. Job transfer system. After the work at all stations is completed, the automatic job transfer system transfers 4 jobs simultaneously to the next station as follows: From To Loading station Measuring Station Measuring Station Correction Station Correction Station Checking Station Checking Station Unloading Station Two types of job transfer systems are offered; one being a linear transfer system and another being a rotary transfer system. The linear transfer system has an advantage of low front space requirement. OK balanced jobs are off loaded at the unloading station. Jobs which are out of tolerance after balancing are separately stacked and can be put through the automatic balancing process at a any later time. ( B) PRODUCTION MACHINE FOR CRANKSHAFTS The machine is of Hard Bearing Design and is rugged and not easily damaged due to rough handling or long use. The machine can be provided with automatic bob weight compensation. This is done by a built-in precision spindle or by electronic compensation of bob weights. Weights are added once to account for the bob weight during set up operation. Balancing of subsequent crankshafts is possible without adding the bob weights on them. The rotation of crankshaft on the balancing machine simulates close to actual condition of working on engine by being supported on more than two journals. This feature is especially suitable for larger crankshafts which can bend when supported on two journals. The pedestals of the machine are capable of handling jobs with very high initial unbalance. The machine incorporates an in-built computer to determine accurately the correction required in any two transverse planes suitable for correction. Resolution of unbalance in different planes is possible with the different electronics offered. The electronic measuring system gives a high degree of accuracy, long life and reliability by the use of force pickups, integrated circuits, photo transistors etc. without moving parts. The construction of the electronic unit is of latest plug-in system which facilitates easy detection and repair of faults. The machine has integral one piece construction and supplied in completely ready to use condition. The machine is provided with different levels of automation, going up to completely automatic unmanned operation. ( C) PRODUCTION MACHINE FOR AUTO PROP SHAFTS High accuracy The offered machine has very high sensitivity and balancing level of 0.5 cm.g are achievable depending upon mechanical stability of jobs. ( This may be considered only as a notional advantage as it is not possible to make propeller shafts with nearly zero clearance and tolerance) . Quick Changeover ( low set up time) Low set up time ( both electronic and mechanical) are possible. In cases of the electronic system, only a new rotor code has to be keyed in. Alternatively 6 dials have to be set to precept levels. In case of mechanical set up, it is easy to change spigot locator. When changing from front end to rear end shafts, the spindle has to be swung out and rollers brought in; by rotation or by sliding ( time is about 2 minutes only) . Isotropic Design For production machine type HCS, ABRO offer isotropic design both for Hard Bearing and Soft Bearing systems. This simulates actual working conditions and gives high accuracy and ease of operation. SALIENT FEATURES & FACILITIES 1 The offered machine is a high production balancing machine. It is suitable for 3 piece shafts when ordered with THIRD PEDESTAL ( can be quoted at an extra cost on request) . 2 The machine is suited for high balancing speeds going upto 7000 rpm. 3 The offered machine is of rugged construction and is capable of sensing unbalance as high as 1 mm of centre of gravity on the average size of your propeller shaft. 4 Sensitivity is much better than the requirement being 0.5 gm.cm. ( 5 g.mm) . 5 Fast acceleration, stopping and measurement ensures low cycle times. 6 High production tooling for propeller shafts, interchangeable clamping dogs and spigot insulators ensures ensure easy changeover. 7 The distance of the propeller shafts from the front and of the main machine bed is only 180 mm for simple loading ( For isotropic soft bearing machines) . 8 The job clamping & pedestal clamping is manual by tightening 4 bolts. 9 The work centre height will be 920 mm approx. 10 Safety guard will be provided to ensure of operator' s safety. 11 Projection welding gun is provided with two heads, third head is optional. 12 Safety ring supplied with the machine prevents flying of propeller shafts in 5 case of an accident.
